Week 7 post 3: Swift v ticketmaster
My friends and I stayed home from school 2 days in a row to wait by my phone in the waiting room for Taylor Swift ticket sales. We used the verified fan code the first day, and roughly 8 hours later, secured nosebleeds to a show in Nashville. The next day, assuming a decent amount of seats had been reserved for the capital one presale, we tried that too. We thought it was worth a shot to get better seats. The waiting room was shorter, but the website still crashed and there was not a single seat available by the time we got in. I think for many people experiencing the effects of monopolies in business in relation to something they truly care about was significant to the fight for breaking up monopolies.
Have any new laws been passed restricting monopolies?
How have the lawsuits against Ticketmaster turned out?
Why do you think Ticketmaster has this monopoly?
