week 5 post 1: easter eggs

 Easter eggs

  • Swift has been leaving clues for her fans called easter eggs for a long time

  • Starting with hidden messages in CD booklets, some letters would be capitalized and put together would spell out a message like who the song was about

  • All too well spelled out maple lattes because Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal were photographed with maple lattes

In just the look what you made me do music video

  • Sits on a throne of snakes which is what Kim Kardashian called her

  • There’s a dollar bill next to Swift when she’s laying in her diamond-clad bathtub, a likely reference to the sexual assault lawsuit where she sued for $1

  • Her backup dancers wear tanks that read “I ❤ TS” on them, a reference to the similar tank Tom Hiddleston wore when the two dated.

  • mountain of “old Taylors” that rebranded Swift stands atop in the video? We also see these “old Taylors” lined up at the end of the video, with one exclaiming, “I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative.” Swift had written the same statement in a now-deleted social media post during her feud with Ye and Kardashian

  • In April 2020, Swift posted a picture captioned “Not a lot going on at the moment.” Swift wore a shirt with that phrase in the music video for “22.” Really it meant she was working on her next album folklore

  • 5 months later she posted with the same caption right beofre she announced her next album Evermore

  • Swift posted a trailer for "This Love (Taylor's Version)," a song to be featured on the Amazon Prime show, "The Summer I Turned Pretty," on her Instagram. At the end of Swift's caption, she said, "This Love (Taylor’s Version) comes out tonight at m i d n i g h t!" Teasing the name of her next album before it had been announced

  • two folklore tracks in the album were credited to “William Bowery.” The same name was credited in three other songs in Evermore.

  • Connecting the dots, Swifties reportedly discovered that “William” was the name of Alwyn’s great-grandfather and “Bowery” referred to Bowery Hotel where Swift first met Alwyn in 2016.

  • Wore paper plane necklace with harry styles when they dated and then wore one in the style music video

  • Mentioned fav indie record store in a caption right before Red (taylors version announcemnet) because it references a lyric in We are never ever getting back together

  • With the fearless rerecords she put out random letter combinations that unscrambled would spell out the names of the vault tracks, and she did the same with Red’s vault tracks

  • For a while prices on signed CDs that typically represent the end of an era were $20.10, spelled in purple because speak now was released in 2010, and $19.89 in blue to tease 1989 (taylors version) and speak now (taylors version)
